This Friday we will embrace our inner game geek and unite in the 3rd floor room, 19:00 @Askja . A few boardgames will be provided but feel free to bring your favorite with you, along with some refreshments. If your fridge is dry, you can always bring cash and we will serve you with a smile (hugs are also negotiable).
Looking forward to seeing you this Friday!
We hope that you all had a wonderful holiday break and a happy new year!
To start off this semester, there will be beers at 16:30 in the Askja 3rd Floor Meeting Room. Remember to bring cash!
Then at 17:30 we will head over to Studentakjallarin to watch Iceland in the Handball Worldcup! This Friday they will be playing against Sweden!
Hope to see you there!

Dearest Askja folks,
‘Tis the season for some holiday cheer! We would like to formally invite you to the Askja Christmas Party which will be held on Saturday, December 6th, 2014.
This year we’ll be decking the halls at Félagsheimili Seltjarnarness: an exciting venue for an exciting occasion!
Here below is some more information on how to secure your ticket. Oh, and be sure to book early or else Santa won’t bring you any presents.
See you under the mistletoe!
Your merry friends at Folda and Flóki.
Hiya F&F friends,
Here’s the info about this week’s science trip:
Veðurstofan, 3pm, Bústaðavegur 7, Friday.
Seriously, there’ve been more rainbows in Reykjavík this week than they’ve ever had in the Sahara desert. Maybe if you join the science trip, you’ll learn why.
Please, if you’d be so kind to sign up on the form below, we have to keep track of how many people are coming:
First come, first serve!
We can now safely announce that there’ll be an explosive presentation in Askja all about the Hóluhraun eruption following the science trip. The slideshow/chat will be in the 3rd floor meeting room at 17:30 (that’s 5:30pm for you non-24-hour timekeepers out there). That will give you ample time to wander back over to Askja from Veðurstofan.
Oh yeah, we also thought you might enjoy some bubbles with your eruption. We’ll be selling beers at the presentation so BRING CASH. The more cash you bring, the more beer you can drink 🙂
See you on Friday!
We hope you enjoyed our first get-together last Friday and it didn’t tire you out for Oktoberfest too much. How awesome was that carnival ride, huh?
We have another exciting update for you. This Friday afternoon will be our first science trip of the new academic year!
We’ll be going to Umhverfisstofnun from 17:00 to 19:00 on Friday afternoon. Since it’s pretty close, we’ll just meet there. The address is Suðurlandsbraut 24. If you’re cartographically challenged, then let us know and we can coordinate a chaperone for you. 🙂
The fine folks at Umhverfisstofnun will generously provide light refreshments but we’ve been told we’ll have to bring our own booze, if you’re so inclined.
Please, please, please sign up by Wednesday morning on the following google doc if you’re interested in attending:
Hope to see you there!

P.S. – If you have NO idea what Umhverfisstofnun is it’s basically the Environment Agency of Iceland. If you want some more info, check out their website (in English!) here: http://www.ust.is/the-environment-agency-of-iceland/
P.P.S – If you are not already in our facebook group, you should join us! https://www.facebook.com/groups/192651190871086/
If you don’t have a facebook account, that’s fine. We’ll also update you here on this site 🙂
