Lög félags doktorsnema við Menntavísindasvið

1. gr. Félagið heitir „Félag doktorsnema við Menntavísindasvið Háskóla Íslands.“ Heimili þess og varnarþing er í Reykjavík.

2. gr. Tilgangur félagsins er að vinna að hagsmunamálum doktorsnema við Menntavísindasvið Háskóla Íslands og stuðla að fræðilegri umræðu meðal félagsmanna með fundum, útgáfu- og kynningarstarfsemi.

3. gr. Doktorsnemar við Menntavísindasvið Háskóla Íslands eru félagar. Aðalfundur ákveður félagsgjöld. Félagið fjármagnar starfsemi sína með styrkjum.

4. gr. Allir félagsmenn hafa rétt til setu á fundum og hafa þar atkvæðis- og tillögurétt. Einfaldur meirihluti atkvæða ræður úrslitum.

5. gr. Aðalfundur skal haldinn í febrúar ár hvert og skal boðað til hans með dagskrá með viku fyrirvara. Á aðalfundi skulu reikningar félagsins fyrir síðasta ár lagðir fyrir til samþykktar. Reikningsárið er frá 1. janúar til 31. desember. Aðalfundur kýs stjórn fyrir næsta starfsár, tvo skoðunarmenn reikninga fyrir sama tímabil og fulltrúa félagsins í ráð og nefndir.

6. gr. Stjórn félagsins skipa þrír aðilar og tveir varamenn, kosnir á aðalfundi til eins árs í senn. Stjórnin skiptir með sér verkum. Hlutverk stjórnar er að koma fram fyrir hönd félagsins, boða til funda þegar ástæða þykir til og hafa frumkvæði að því að 2. gr. sé framfylgt.

7. gr. Stjórn er skylt að boða til tveggja félagsfunda á ári hið minnsta.
8. gr. Stjórn félagsins er ábyrg fyrir fjárreiðum félagsins og skuldbindingum þess.

Komi til slita félagsins renna eignir þess til Stúdentafélags Menntavísindasviðs Háskóla Íslands. Félagsmenn eiga ekki tilkall til eigna félagsins. Ákvörðun um slit félagsins skal tekin á aðalfundi eða sérstaklega boðuðum félagsfundi og ræður einfaldur meirihluti.

9. Heimilt er að breyta lögum þessum á aðalfundi.
Lög þessi taka gildi þegar aðalfundur hefur samþykkt þau.

BY-LAWS FOR THE DOCTORAL STUDENT ASSOCIATION OF THE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION, UNIVERSITY OF ICELAND

Article 1 Name
The association shall be called the „Doctoral Student Association of the School of Education, University of Iceland“, with its legal address and legislative body based in Reykjavík.

Article 2 Purpose.
The goal of the association is to address the concerns of doctoral students from the School of Education and to encourage theoretical discussion amongst members through meetings, publications and promoting and publicizing its operations and activities.

Article 3 Membership and Dues.
All doctoral students currently enrolled with the School of Education of the University of Iceland are members of the Doctoral Students Association. Membership fees are decided upon at the annual meeting. The association finances its activities with grants.

Article 4 Rights of General Members.
All general members of the association have the right to attend meetings, to vote and to make propositions related to the association. Propositions will be accepted based on a majority vote.

Article 5 Annual meetings are held in February each year. The annual general meeting should be announced with the full agenda attached at least a week prior to the meeting. In this annual general meeting, the association’s finances and accounting procedures will be presented to its members and thereafter approved. The bookkeeping year is from January 1st to December 31st. The annual general meeting selects the executive board for the coming year, two reviewers of the book keeping, and representatives into various committees.

Article 6 Leadership Structure.
The executive board of the association is comprised of three members and two reserve members. The executive board divides responsibilities between the members.
The role of the executive board is to represent general members, hold meetings on an as needed basis and to fulfil the goals of the association as laid down in Article 2.

Article 7 General Meetings.
The executive board is obliged to hold at least two general meetings per year.

Article 8 Association Funds.
The executive board shall take full responsibility for all financial obligations of the association.

In the case that the association of doctoral students ceases to exist, all remaining funds will be handed over to the student association of the School of Education, University of Iceland. The general member has no claim to the funds. Decision to terminate the Association can be made at the annual meeting or in a specific meeting and majority rules.

Article 9 Amendments to by-laws
Amendments to these laws are permitted during the annual meeting. Requested amendments will come into effect if approved during the annual general meeting.
