Students in Environment and Natural Resources at the University of Iceland

Welcome

Welcome to the homepage of Gaia - the student association for the students of the Master programme in “Environment and Natural Resources” - “Umhverfis og Auðlindafrœdi” at the University of Iceland (www.umhverfi.hi.is).

Gaia as an organisation consist out of students with a very diverse background and from many different countries. We are very glad to see many other students from outside the programme showing interest in courses which are mandatory in our field of study.

The majority of our students come from Iceland, but we do have a growing number of students from all over the world. Our fellow students in the programme and visiting some courses come for example from: Canada, Norway, Kenya, Indonesia, China, Germany, Finland, Malta, and Fiji (just to mention a few). For more information please click on the map below.

Please feel free to browse through our homepage and learn more about us, about our field of interest and what we think is useful for you to know about the environment. Even though we are studying in an Icelandic University most of our posts are in English so we can spread out environmental concerned knowledge to the world. If you have any further information for us or want to get in contact with us, please do so. You will find our address on our “About us - About Gaia” page (link).

Now we would like to inform you about our ongoing events throughout year.

Gaia organizes science trips to interesting companies and organizations that either address environmental concerns or are working with environmental topics. These trips are always interesting, informative and of course also fun. In addition to the science trips, we are also organizing an annual event concerning environmental topics called Green Days. We would like to encourage you to take part in these events and browse our webpage for interesting facts and articles. The upcoming events will always be posted on this webpage, so come in and find out!

So stay in touch with us, stay informed.
